Blueprint OMS V2.2.7
Blueprint OMS v2.2.7 is now available, and full details are below.
Support for editable PDFs
PDF documents with editable fields can be edited directly on-screen in Blueprint OMS.
Editable PDF documents are indicated with a green PDF icon on the patient Documents screen, and can be opened for editing by double-clicking.
When saving changes to an editable PDF, users have the option of allowing future editing, or locking the document.
Locked documents are indicated with the standard red PDF icon.
CMS-1500 (HCFA) forms are editable PDFs
CMS-1500 (HCFA) forms are now created and archived as editable PDF documents in Blueprint OMS. All of the fields on the form can now be edited directly on screen in Blueprint — the Show form data button is no longer required.
When archiving a HCFA form, the category is automatically set to Insurance claim, and the description is automatically filled with the invoice number.
Fax transmission status tracking
The status of each fax is now indicated with an icon, on the Fax Outbox screen.
The fax machine icon indicates a pending transmission, and the icon disappears once the transmission is completed. Failed transmissions are indicated with an exclamation mark, and these can be retransmitted by right-clicking.
This replaces the confirmation emails which were previously sent.
Create journal entries when documents are faxed/emailed
Journal entries are now created when a patient document is faxed or emailed from Blueprint.
The entry text shows the document title, modification date, and the recipient details.
Alternate scanning mechanism
Several users have experienced intermittent problems when scanning a high volume of documents into the system, using the Epson GT-S50 scanner. In some cases a scan might take several minutes to complete, and in other cases a scan might not complete at all, with an error message displayed from the Epson scanning software.
The problem can be eliminated by initiating scans using the scanner hardware button, or the Epson software, rather than from within Blueprint OMS.
Blueprint can be configured to automatically detect new files scanned this way, and follow the usual process thereafter.
If you have experienced the problems described above, and would like to try the new alternative mechanism, please let our technical support team know by clicking here.
Forms, templates and reports
Patient AR statements
Patient AR statements are now available directly from Blueprint, from the Tools –> Reports (new) menu.
When accessed from the Reports (new) menu, a statement will be generated for each patient with a non-zero balance.
A statement for an individual patient can be generated by selecting the patient in the Patient browser (or opening the patient file), and selecting Patient –> Forms –> Patient AR Statement.
Audiology report templates can be created with Word
Customized audiology reports (such as the Physician Hearing Loss Assessment) can now be created using Microsoft Word, and uploaded to Blueprint.
Details of the new merge fields for audiology reports will be available shortly on our Marketing Resources page.
New envelope template including return address
A new envelope template which includes the clinic name and return address is now available.
New merge fields for patient forms
New merge fields for order-related forms
All patient merge fields available on order/audiology forms
All of the merge fields available for patient forms can now be used on order-related and audiology forms as well.

The new Patient referral primary filter includes the name of the referred patient in the aux1 and aux2 merge fields.
This makes it easy to include text such as “Thank you for referring Linda Smith” in thank you letters.
